FIN - Accountant, General Ledger

The role:

As GL Accountant, you will be part of the General Ledger Department Workflow Management Team. In this position, you will be responsible to execute centralized Month End Closing activities and process centralized journal entries and processes which support EMEA’s Financial Accounting objectives. You will work closely with our Controllers, Financial Planning and Analysis Team, and interact with the General Ledger Department’s other teams (Internal Reporting and External Reporting), as well as with AP, AR, and MDM departments. You will challenge the status quo and contribute to the continuous improvement and (semi-) automation of our processes and activities.

As the FSSC is continuously improving and changing, you may also take on other GL tasks. To further develop your skills, job rotation within the GL teams will be supported.

What you will do – GL related:

• Responsible for centralized and other month end activities and month end journal entries for assigned processes/entities.
• Primary responsibility for the centralized accounting for fixed assets, including updating fixed assets master data, creating new assets, disposing assets, ensuring correct depreciation, and reconciliation of the fixed assets subledger.
• Support the payroll accounting center of excellence with the centralized processing of monthly payroll accounting entries, payroll accruals, payroll reclasses.
• Support the other members in your team with Intercompany Accounting activities.
• Review intercompany accounts, involving communication with other business locations worldwide.
• Support with quarterly reporting for group consolidation.
• Ensures that all assigned balance sheet accounts are reconciled in a timely manner.
• Enhance existing processes and help your manager to develop continuous improvement initiatives to ensure the most efficient completion of duties.
• Other ad hoc support to the department.

What you need:

• Fluent English skills (also preferably one other EU language)
• HBO degree (high professional education), or work experience at this level
• 5+ years of professional experience in GL Functions
• ERP system experience (preferably SAP)
• Advanced Excel skills
• You easily visualize and think in processes, understand how your activities and actions influence other processes, and other (finance) departments
